We have now launched a letter-writing campaign calling for the release of Dr. Esfandiari from Evin Prison. It is easy for you to join in. Simply go to the letter-writing site, edit the draft letter to Iranian government officials, and submit the text. Our system will deliver your letter and add your name to a list of people petitioning Iranian authorities.

The purpose of the letter/petition campaign is to deliver individual messages and to demonstrate an outpouring of grassroots support. Already, over 850 people have sent letters. Join the campaign - send a letter for Haleh.

UPDATED:Amnesty International has a site where you can print out a letter to send to Iranian officials about Haleh’s case.

Also, Scholars for Peace in the Middle East previously launched a petition appeal with the goal of obtaining 5,000 signatures. Follow the link to participate.

  1. Arman Bakhtiar Says:

Unfortunately this is another example of a dialogue or engaging with a ruthless regime.
As long as Islamic Republic stays in power, they continue to commit horrendous crimes against humanity.
Some day soon Iranian people will fix the problem by toppling this regime with a popular Revolution.

  2. David Jordan Says:

Haleh Esfandiari is a respected scholar and unless the free exchange of ideas continues to exist with the current Iranian government the future holds nothing but hostility and suspicion. She should not have been detained and she should be immediately released. Only thus can the Iranian government demonstrate that it accepts the international conventions of civility and law. Such a public act on the part of the Iranian government would resonate throughout the world as a token of good faith, lawfulness, and the desire to be seen as a nation that does not commit arbitrary acts.

  3. Fariborz Shamshiri Says:

We strongly condemn Iran’s detention of Iranian with dual nationality and urge for their unconditional freedom.

As long Islamic regime is running in Iran we won’t see any positive changes in the country policy even towards Iranian people, in this case Mrs. Haleh Esfandiari and other scholars like Mr. Kian Tajbakhsh.

We need all people to ask for their freedom to make one big voice in Iran against this brutal imprisonment of Mrs. Haleh Esfandiari and other scholars and Political prisoners.

Please everybody speak out and ask for freedom in Iran.
