Clinton Makes Haleh’s Case a Priority
August 16th, 2007Mrs. Clinton demanded the release of Dr. Esfandari without delay:
It is unconscionable that Dr. Esfandiari – a grandmother who was in Iran to visit her ailing mother – has been detained for more than three months on baseless charges
Clinton also urged the Bush Administration to make the release “a priority for our government.” and pledged to draw attention to Haleh’s plight in Congress.

It is wonderful to see the first candidate for U.S. president make a public case for the necessity of the current administration’s demand for the release of this Iranian-American citizen.
I really hope that everyone who is interested in her release to write to their Senators in Congress and president and vice president to demand Iran that it release Dr. Esfandiari. This is something that every single one of us can do, and together, we can really have an important impact.
